Western Cape Safari

Join professional photographer John Hishin on a 2 Night 3 day Western Cape Wildlife and Scenic Safari.

Day 1:

Departing Cape Town, we travel through the vineyards of the Paarl / Wellington region, before travelling through the mountain passes towards the fynbos-covered arid region of the Karoo. There is ample time to stop at various points to photograph the scenery. On arrival at one of the Cape's finest game reserves and lodge, clients can  settle in their rooms before enjoying a buffet lunch in the garden where sunbirds move between the indigenous flowers. After lunch we have a short lecture session on wildlife photography before meeting up at the open Land Rover game viewer for our first game drive. There is  time to freshen up after the drive before meeting at the bar for a pre-dinner drink and recap of the day's photography. Dinner is served in the camp boma, (weather permitting), after which we venture out to observe and photograph the Karoo night skies. After this we head back to the camp fire and warm ourselves with coffee before heading to our chalets for a well deserved nights sleep.

Day 2:

It,s an early morning wake up, with enough time to meet for coffee and rusks before departing on the morning drive. we leave in time to see the sun rise over the bushveld with giraffe silhouetted against the morning light. We then continue on the drive looking for Lion, Rhino and other game. Returning to the camp for a late breakfast, after we spend an hour looking at photos and discussing photographic technique before taking time to relax around the pool or in the gardens before lunch. After Lunch everyone has time to relax - take a snooze, or wander round the camp photographing the flowers and birds - before meeting for tea and the afternoon Game Drive. Dinner that evening will again be around the fire, listening to the night sounds of the nocturnal wild waking.
Those who want another try at photographing the night skies can do so before heading for their chalets.

Day 3:

It's again an early start as we depart on our last game drive, spending time putting what we have learned into practice, before heading back to the camp for breakfast and to pack and leave. Our journey back follows a different route, giving everyone the chance to experience and capture stunning images of the Cape's beauty.
