Our South African coastline offers some of the finest whale watching in the world, but Hermanus remains the most renowned place from which to watch these gentle giants. It is no wonder this part of the Cape coast is known as the Whale Coast, the best-land based whale watching site in the world. The best time for the Hermanus whale watching tour is during the whale season, between July and November, as southern right whales congregate in the safe, sheltered bay of Walker Bay in Hermanus to mate and calve.

With our Hermanus whale watching tours, you will be able to photograph beautiful seascapes along the scenic drive between Gordon's Bay and Rooiels. At Betty's Bay I will share my secrets on how to get great African Penguin photographs before we make our way to Hermanus. After a picnic lunch at one of the many lookout point across Walker Bay, you get to try your hand at photographing these gentle giants from land. There is also an optional 2 hour boat ride available that will take you as close as 50 meters from the whales! The Hermanus whale watching tour then comes to a close with a visit to the De Wet's Huis Photo Museum in Hermanus.
